WHO WE ARE
THE ARCHITECT
Joel is a licensed architect practicing in Charleston, SC. My love of building and landscape was nurtured in the mountains of western North Carolina, where early in life, I grew up with vernacular buildings shaped by landscape, natural systems, and the activities they contain. I came to Charleston by way of Clemson and UVA, and In the historic architecture of Charleston, I have continued my study of site specific purpose built architecture. Through score and burn we seek to bring an interest in digital fabrication to create designs which explore the built and natural environments of our historic and beautiful city.
THE EDUCATOR
Sharon has been a life-long educator in North and South Carolina. Her focus was on early childhood, but since coming to Charleston has has been involved in special education. A woman of many talents she has also brings experience running retail establishments in Charleston, and if you chat with her at our markets you’ll quickly find she’s as sweet as the pound cakes she’s famous for.
THE GODFATHER
Chuck (far left) is a life long motorsports enthusiast. As an 11 year old he was a “garage rat” in Larry Smiths Winston Cup Garage where he was hustling tools, sweeping, and learning the ins and outs of steel fabrication. He has helped on multiple local teams and his final season was in 2008 with Mike Duvall who took home the track championship at the Cherokee Speedway. He has owned and ran a heavy steel fabrication business for 10 years and now lends his eye to the designs of score and burn helping develop a solution to difficult fabrication and design issues.
